Detroit Pistons point guard Reggie Jackson visited Fischer Lower Magnet Academy on Monday to officially open his third Literacy Lounge made possible by Chassix.

Through Reggie Jackson’s DETermined to Assist Foundation, Reggie’s Literacy Lounge has been created to inspire children to sit down with a book, in a welcoming environment, with seating and bookshelves stocked with more than 600 books.

“From a young age, I was encouraged to read by my brother, and it is one of the greatest gifts I have ever been given,” said Jackson. “I want to help give these kids the gift of knowledge because that is one gift that no one can take away from you."

Jackson received the honor of reading the first story in the lounge to students. The Literacy Lounge featured Reggie Jackson-themed wall decals, seating areas for students to read, and bookshelves stocked with 600 age-appropriate books. Books were donated by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.
