Reggie Jackson’s DETermined to Assist Foundation has been
awarded a $25,000 grant by the National Basketball Players Association
Foundation in support of its community outreach programs to help improve
educational opportunities in urban Detroit. The grant will finance the
installation of new Reggie’s Literacy Lounges in 2019, which provide Title I
schools with state-of-the-art reading oases that foster a love of reading in
younger students.

The NBPA Foundation, the charitable arm of the league’s
players association, administers strategic funding and support to its players’
endeavors in the community to help accelerate their philanthropic impact
throughout the world. Designed to support charitable causes that players in the
NBA are involved in, the NBPA Foundation’s matching grant program provides
grant funding to 501(c)3 nonprofits at the request of those players. The
Foundation matches funds up to $25,000.

This marks the second straight year that Jackson’s
Foundation has received a grant from the NBPA Foundation. In 2017, the
DETermined to Assist Foundation received a $20,000 grant, which helped to
install Literacy Lounges at Fischer Lower Magnet Academy, Burns Elementary, and
Edison Elementary.
